Through its programs, it aims to accelerate progress in the fight against cancer and improve outcomes for patients worldwide.
Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation

The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation is dedicated to redefining cancer rehabilitation and survivorship through innovative programming and support services, offering healing and hope to all cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones. Our partnership focuses on analyzing donation trends, donor retention, and individual fundraising campaigns.
American Red Cross
Greater Atlanta, Georgia
The American Red Cross is a non-profit humanitarian organization that delivers vital services with a mission of preventing and relieving suffering. The American Red Cross in Georgia serves an estimated 10 million people. Our analysis will be of volunteer data, with a focus on using trends and visualizations to enhance volunteer recruitment, engagement, and longevity in the future for Red Cross chapters across Georgia.
Parkland Health Foundation
Dallas, Texas
Parkland Hospital is a non-profit hospital that is based in Dallas, TX. They were established in 1894 and receive nearly 300,000 patients a year. The Parkland Health Foundation works to secure substantial financial resources that advance the goals of Parkland Health. The overarching goal of our project is to evaluate the donation dataset of Parkland Health Foundation and to improve their donor retention rate.
Teen Cancer America
Los Angeles, California
Teen Cancer America is an organization whose mission is the Increasing survival and improving the lives of adolescent and young adults with cancer by transforming hospitals to better serve their needs. TCA engages and supports hospitals and outpatient facilities in the development of specialized and comprehensive care programs for ages 13-39. Our partnership is focused on donation trends and evaluating donor retention rate over time.
Ability Connection
Irving, Texas
Ability Connection is a Texas-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services and programs to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Within their array of offerings, they cater to both adults and youth. The adult programs primarily focus on residential services like group homes, while the youth programs are predominantly focused on educational services like summer camps. Our project aims to analyze Ability Connection’s client data, focusing more on their adult programs and services.
Lawrence Hall
Chicago, Illinois
Lawrence Hall, one of Chicago's oldest social service agencies, delivers care to abused and neglected youth through trauma-informed healing and supports them in entering the workforce. Our partnership centers on forming recommendations for tracking and visualizing the impact of community wellness (trauma support and mentoring) services and subsidized employment programs to inform Lawrence Hall's future service delivery, while identifying trends in the impact of such programs on the workforce trajectory of youth participants based on historical data.
Make-A-Wish Georgia
Cobb County, Georgia
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia is a non-profit aimed at providing hope for children battling critical illnesses by granting life-changing wishes. Within all 159 counties of Georgia, they have served hundreds of children each year. Our partnership aims to assist with the ongoing growth of this Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter, through analysis of trends in different diagnosis and demographics of individuals granted wishes over the years.
Wonders and Worries
Houston, Texas
Wonders & Worries provides free, professional support for children and teenagers through a parent’s serious illness or injury, so that they can reach their full potential. The focus of our project is to analyze data for the types of families and children that Wonders & Worries provides service to. They want to learn more about their client base through all the available data, such as the demographic of their client base, which of their approaches to supporting children is the most effective, etc. The dataset contains information from the past 21 years; however, as the surveys they have used to collect this data has changed over time, a major challenge of this project was to merge the data together for consistent analysis.
OPICA
Los Angeles, California
Optimistic People In a Caring Atmosphere (OPICA) is an Adult Day Care Center based out of West LA with the aim of improving lives of adults challenged by memory loss. As the first Adult Day Program and Counseling Center in Los Angeles, OPICA has been serving these individuals and their families for over 42 years. Our partnership is focused on analyzing client demographic data, efficacy of online programs, patient engagement with day programs, and the client’s outreach efforts to various demographics in Los Angeles.
Fresh Start Surgical Gifts
San Diego, California
A small, local nonprofit with global impact! Fresh Start is a medical charity for children that transforms the lives of disadvantaged infants, children, and teens with physical deformities through the gift of reconstructive surgery and related care. Our team is conducting retrospective and prospective analyses of Fresh Start Golf Classics events to help our client assess the efficacy of current events and plan, implement future golf charity events.
24 Foundation
Charlotte, North Carolina
24 Foundations mission is to better the lives of those suffering with cancer. Every year they sponsor a fundraising event called 24 Hours of Booty where they raise money to support their mission. Over the course of this semester, our team has worked diligently to analyze their demographic data to help expand their reach.
Oncology and Kids (OAK)
San Diego, California
OAK's mission is to provide resources and support for kids battling cancer and their siblings, through camps, family-oriented events, and personalized care. In the second project, our team is focusing on analyzing gifts by campaigns and utilizing natural language processing techniques to gain insights from clients comments.
Meals on Wheels
San Diego, California
Since 1960, Meals on Wheels strives to empower seniors, veterans, and/or disabled persons to remain independent by nourishing their bodies, minds, and spirit by providing nutritious meals and care. Our team is reproducing a report done in the past by a full-staff analytics team and producing more complex, multivariate insights, all presented on a Django web app.
Claris Health
Los Angeles, California
Claris Health is a nonprofit whose mission is to provide low-cost or free reproductive and mental health care for individuals and families. Their clinics primarily serve the West and South LA areas, including mobile clinics that bring care to some of LA’s most underserved communities. They seek to guide patients through pregnancy while educating them on sexual health. Our partnership focused on analyzing patient zip codes to investigate where to focus mobile clinic efforts, call trends, patient referrals, and appointment trends. Additionally, we analyzed donor data, researching which states and campaigns yielded the highest funding.
ALS Association
Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia
The ALS Association works to improve the lives of people living with ALS and leave no stone unturned in the search for its cure. The development project with the DC/MD/VA chapter will focus on analyzing donor data to uncover trends and make recommendations to increase the donor retention rate.
The care services & volunteer engagement project will also work with the local ALS Association to comprehend how successful their organization is at meeting both patient and volunteer needs. This group will study topics like access to resources, distance to clinics, and what’s important to their clients utilizing data from a care services survey conducted by the ALS Association. In addition, this team will analyze development data from this past walk season to understand volunteer demographics and quantify their contributions to the organization.
Operation Happy Nurse Project
Arlington, Virginia
Operation Happy Nurse Project: Nurses struggle all over the U.S. with burnout, depression, anxiety, and other mental pressures that come with the job. OHN serves as a resource for peer groups, discussion boards, book clubs, meditation groups, access to dietitians, and mental health assistance. This project with OHN will hone on existing data involving demographics and Google Analytics. Furthermore, we'll help gather survey data on nurses and analyze those responses.
Hope For Three
Fort Bend County, Texas
Hope for Three is a small, Houston-based nonprofit advocating for and providing grants to families who have children with autism. This is Hope for Three’s second semester-long project with Biokind Analytics. For this project, they are interested in better understanding the families and children they serve. The data provided contains demographic information about each of their families, as well as how they were referred to the organization and some internal data on how they were added.
Candelighters
Houston, Texas
Candlelighters is a Texas-based nonprofit that serves all children with cancer and their families at every stage of their journey. They extend support to families of children on-treatment, long term survivors, adult survivors, and those whose child lost their battle with cancer. Your project will be an analysis of the patients they work with, starting with the questions listed below. You will be provided a spreadsheet of the patient data as well as an additional spreadsheet that provides information on cancer diagnoses.
